Oliver Lee Garland

I’m a director and the founder of Olga Lee. I’m known for my versatility, handling comedy, suspense and emotional pieces with equal confidence. An actor by training, I bring a particular sensitivity to building characters and work just as comfortably with actors as with non-actors.

I founded my production company in 2019, and in 2021 it was named the best in Uruguay at El Ojo de Iberoamérica. In 2022 it became Olga Lee, and in 2025 it won the same recognition again, also ranking among the top 10 production companies in the region.

Over my career I’ve won awards at El Ojo, Shots Awards, Ciclope, Campanas de Oro and Desachate, and I’m one of the most awarded directors in Uruguay over the last decade. I was named Best Local Director at El Ojo in 2015, 2020, 2021 and 2025, and I’m ranked 11th among directors in Ibero-America.

I believe tenderness is one of the most powerful emotions for creating identification and closeness. I use it as a central tool to build stories that move people without losing their naturalness, making memorable pieces in both advertising and film.

I’ve worked in Spain, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Uruguay. In 2018 I released From Core To Sun, a sports documentary that became the most-watched Ecuadorian film in cinemas that year. In my free time I’m a skydiver — something I’ve also brought into my work, shooting commercials in mid-air.
